Dane and Andrea Anderson have created Fresh Paint, a division of TheGazz.com, the Charleston Gazette's online cultural newspaper. Fresh Paint is the blog for artists both young and old, street and commercial, sober or soused. Check in regularly for useful insight into the psyche of not only Charleston's visual art scene, but that of the nature of what constitutes a burgeoning art scene in the US.

Greetings Fam!
I hope you all can make it out to my second art exhibit following the success of February's Beating Art exhibit. This art show features 14 artists who live in the Charleston area, and includes works on paper, painting, printmaking and small scale sculpture. My studio, Hansford Art House, is in Charleston's furniture district, close to Laidley Field (see attached map).
The art show is free and will be followed by live performances from rappers Meuwl and B. Rude on Friday evening, and the newly relocated folk-rockers the Buttonflies on Saturday evening. Both performances immediately following receptions from 6-9 pm.

The Callen McJunkin Gallery reopened with an amazing loft space above Stray Dog Antiques at 219 Hale St. in downtown Charleston. I am working there as a gallery assistant along with Andrea Anderson, graduate from Ohio University. In August, Andrea and I will co-curate an Emerging Artist exhibition in the gallery, featuring our own art as well as the work of ...emerging artists.
